Elizabeth, I've just found the message by accident. They weren't forwarding to me. So sorry! I would be happy to suggest some resources that can help you. It is best to investigate your risk situation early. Feel free to email me.

Hey Joy

When a PET san has an uptake value like that and it shows a growing tumor, that would mean a very strong possibility of renewed malignancy, especially with such an increase in uptake aand tumor size. It also means that more then likely he will be wanting to do a biopsy of the tumor as that would be the only way to be 100% sure that the cancer is back.

If the nodes showed significant uptake that would also mean a strong possibility that it has spread to the lymph system. Again, that would need to be confirmed by a biopsy.

If he suggests biopsy (which I am sure he will) talk to him about the possibility of doing an initial ultra-sound guided small needle biopsy versus just taking the nodes out carte blanche.

Let me know how you do and a big hug your way too!!!!!!!!!!

I have had ovarian cancer for 1 1/2 years now and I had a PET scan on 11/24/08 and my doctor says it shows new disease - 2 lymph nodes in back of the abdomen. I didn't ask any details over the phone (he called me the night before thanksgiving (11/26/08) and it was alot to absorb. The PET scan also showed the tumor in the right adenexal area is hotter on PET with SUV of 16 was 10 3 months a go and bigger on CT was 3.0 x 2 now 3.8 x 2. Can anyone tell me exactly what this means?
